Kria Cycles is the only bike shop building up custom bikes in Iceland. Custom built bikes can take any number of forms but the end result always strives to be the same: a unique bike built up to your desires and specification. 


Like any custom produced product, the process involves personal consultation and advice in order to achieve the end result. Obviously, being that these are custom built bikes, the range of options available is huge, but the basic options can be narrowed down by outlining 2 scenarios:

1. You have an old bike and you wish to renovate or use this bike as a base for your new machine

If you have an old bike that either needs updating or that you just wish to use as a base for a "new" bike we offer a basic service that caries out the following:

  • Frame is stripped of all components
  • Frame, fork and any other components that are to be re-finished are sandblasted
  • Frame, fork and any other components that are to be re-finished are powder-coated in a colour of your choice - there are probably somewhere in the region of 100 to choose from!
  • All components that are to be re-used are de-greased and cleaned
  • Frame, fork, old and new components are re-built into your new bike
  • This service starts at 33,000kr, which would be the cost if we literally had to take the bike apart and reconstruct without using any new components. Of course most people will opt for a number of new items; wheels, perhaps a new Brooks saddle etc etc, and these are at an extra cost. 


2. You would like a totally new custom built bike

This is of course a more expensive option, since it involves all new components and frame. The price will much depend on what variety of bike you'd like, and the type of frame and components used. As a guide, a new single/fixed gear bike, with lightweight steel frame, hand-built wheels, all in a colour of your choice, will start from about 150,000kr. Almost all individual components are available in a variety of colours and finishes. Saddle can be handmade leather examples from Brooks of England - the combinations are endless. It is difficult to convey this in a text, so really it is best discussed in the shop or over a telephone call. The examples shown in the photos may give you some inspiration.
